Wax Atelier

About

Wax Atelier re-visits traditional techniques ranging from candle-dipping and paper-making to crafted textiles using natural wax.

It was founded in London in 2017 by multidisciplinary designers, Lola Lely and Yesenia Thibault-Picazo.

Born in Hanoi in Vietnam, Lola grew up in London and was curious from an early age about how objects were made. Drawing, making and the connection between materials, process and maker are all central to her practice.

Yesenia is a French-born musician and designer. She explores the narrative potentials of materials through collaborations with experts in the fields of geology, anthropology and craft. She then uses design as a means to engage with diverse audiences on contemporary ecological challenges.

For Lola and Yesenia, making becomes a tool to experience the interconnection between the natural world and material culture.
