The Classical Acanthus Bracket is available in plaster cast versions as seen in the photos or hand carved versions are available in limestone and marble. The casting and carvings are made in George’s studio in South London.
The Classical Acanthus Bracket seen in the pictures is a plaster cast version, the original was purchased from a dealer who sold reclaimed decorative items in Deptford.
George believes the cast was intended for an internal, non structural architectural feature in a neoclassical building. It is a particularly nice example of a scrolling acanthus and the original has been modeled well.
Acanthus brackets are typical of the Corinthian order of classical architecture, originally used on ancient Greek and Roman buildings.
Please note: Each piece of stone is different and will have variations.
