Detailed Description
Summit Shape Vase Blue | Ceramic has blue porcelain inlaid into white stoneware clay. The front plane incorporates a fine layer of twisted and folded hand-coloured porcelain embedded into the surface. As a result, each piece is a one off. Emily Marston’s patterning process has gradually developed after she became fascinated with Nerikomi technique and hand-colouring clay as soon as she started working with pottery.
This most recent collection of vases was developed out of a fascination with the interaction of architecture and the natural world. Emily takes inspiration from clean lines against organic shapes. The simple slab-built forms contrast with plants and flowers, with the flowers peeking out from behind the vase.
