Originally a textile designer for luxury fashion brands, Talia James is a ceramicist who brings her passion for colour, form, and pattern to contemporary ceramics that reflect her Moroccan heritage and her training in Mashiko, Japan.
The bold geometric patterns throughout her work draw from two distinct sources: the intricate tilework and architecture of Moroccan cities, and Kintsugi — the Japanese art of repairing pottery with gold lacquer, finding beauty in imperfection.
Stepping away from the factory-produced ideal, Talia gives the material and the making process room to speak. Each piece is handcrafted and unique, carrying the story of how it came to be.
