“The act of making cloth connects me to a long line of weavers whose tradition is vanishing in a world of mass production. It is the space where storytelling, making and memory meet.” Majeda Clarke.
Lampros Azure (Radiant Blues) with hues of blues and pops of Jade is available with Jade, Forest Green or Wine blanket stitching.
‘Classical Chroma’ tells the story of the ancient Greeks’ perception of the colour blue. It's a widely held belief that there is no single word in Ancient Greek for ‘blue’, often evidenced by Homer’s description of the sea as ‘wine dark’ and the sky as ‘bronze’. This could be simply poetic metaphor or is it that blue comes in many hues and seems to touch all elements of the colour scale? This collection is inspired by Greece where even the light is infused with blue.
The ancient Greeks were fascinated by colour; our favourite is Plato’s categorisation of the primary colours as ‘white’, ‘black’, ‘red’ and ‘brilliant’. Perceiving colour as shine or lustre is a wonderful reflection of Platonic idealism.
This double cloth collection is woven in Lancashire using luxury ethical 100% Merino Wool and 80% Lambswool 20%Angora mix spun in the UK and finished in the Scottish Borders where the soft water and traditional techniques make for a super soft finish.
Each blanket comes with a story card and signed card from the mill where it is woven. Modern blankets designed with thought, woven with tradition and treasured as an heirloom.
