Detailed Description
Ellen takes inspiration from the landscapes she has experienced, the micro and macro elements of a scene; from the tiny intricate details of nature to the overall atmosphere of a place. The amalgamation of ingredients that make up the landscape; sky, trees, hills, shapes, textures, light, and colours. Influenced by the changing seasons, her works are an abstract interpretation of the natural world, combining natural dyeing with mark-making, each piece forms a direct dialogue with the environment from which they are inspired. This circular way of making, linking the source of her inspiration to the final outcome is the main philosophy of her practice.
